Uwezo Fund gives over 50 women and youth groups 5 Million.
The Kenyan government through National Affirmative Action Fund. Women Enterprise Fund, Youth Enterprise Development fund and Uwezo fund gave over 50 women and youth groups in Suba North constituency 5 Million to boost their businesses.
Cheques worth Sh 5 million were drawn from Women Enterprise Fund, Youth Enterprise Development fund and Uwezo fund.
Speaking las Friday at Mbita Sports Ground, the area MP Ms Millie Odhiambo called on the women and youth groups in Suba North constituency to sensibly utilize the Uwezo fund to change their livelihoods in the society.
Odhiambo said there is need for the government to carry out civic education to women, youths and persons living with disabilities on how they could access government funds and through loans and grants.
The politician accompanied by her Rangwe counterpart Dr.Lillian Gogo additional launched a program called Huduma Mashinani which will bring government services closer to the people.
Dr. Gogo who graced the occasion appealed to women and youths to register their self-help groups to enable them access government funds as grants and loans through Uwezo fund.
Uwezo fund is also intended to help youth and women in Kenya take advantage of the government ‘affirmative action’ initiative which offers 30% of all government tenders and procurement to the youth and women in Kenya.
